Over the last number of weeks some of our P6 boys have taken part in a boxing programme, along with children from Dromore Central PS. This morning we held an assembly to celebrate their achievements and to present the boys with their medals and certificates. We were joined by some special guests including, Mrs Bentley, Principal of Dromore Central PS and Ms Leonard. We also had representatives from Neighbourhood Policing, Martin and Julie, along with Gwen from Policing and Community Safety Partnership who organised and sponsored the project. Secretary of our Board of Governors, Jason Murphy and our local Councillor Paul Rankin also joined us to celebrate the boys’ achievements. A special thank you to Molly from Rathfriland Amateur Boxing Club, who coached the boys during their sessions. We were also delighted to welcome back to school our Lagan Valley MP, Sorcha Eastwood, to present the medals to the children. A huge well done to all the boys: Oliver, Charlie, Callum, Noel, Patrick, Ben, Yohan, Bobby, Lewis and James for their enthusiastic participation and commitment. They have gained new friendships skills and perhaps aspirations to continue with their boxing in the future!
