P6/7 visit Palace Stables in Armagh.
Yesterday our class visited Palace Stables in Armagh to experience Christmas Through The Ages. It was a fantastic day. We learned about Christmas in Victorian times and what life was like during war time at Christmas. The children were told about Victorian traditions that still continue in our homes today, we have Christmas crackers, lights and decorations on an evergreen tree and giving gifts. Samuel the Victorian butler gave each of us a pencil as our gift! In the Victorian kitchen we made a wish while stirring the Christmas pudding mixture. After, we spoke to Donald, a war veteran who taught us about toys in war time and rationing. To finish the day we made Christmas lanterns in the craft room to decorate our trees at home. Thanks to all at Palace Stables for such a great day.
